At Braiswick Primary we believe a high-quality history education will enable pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.

The history topics covered should inspire pupils’ curiosity about the past and the legacy it has left in the present. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
Our history curriculum enables children to develop a context for their growing sense of identity and a chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people. What they learn through history can influence their decisions about personal choices, attitudes and values. Our diverse school community is something we celebrate at Braiswick and our history curriculum is designed to build a narrative of the past where children are required to think deeply as historians and to understand their place in our world as global citizens.
