Our kitchen team is made up of three hard working ladies, striving to give YOUR children the best quality school dinners around using fresh local produce and suppliers. The Catering Team was recently presented with a 5 Star Award for Excellent Food and Hygiene Standards.

Our catering manager is Mrs Davies.
She has five years experience of running an extremely busy kitchen in another local primary school and has been at Braiswick since December 2015.

Julie compiles all our allergen information and is always available at the start of the day to talk to you about any dietary problems your child might have and how we can help.

Our catering assistant is Mrs Saleh.
She has lots of experience in a school environment, including previously being a supervisor mid day assistant.

Our dinners cost £2.30 per day.

We offer a main meal, or a vegetarian option and a dessert. Some days we offer a jacket potato with a choice of filling or a ham, cheese or tuna roll from our ‘Grab and Go’ station.

We serve chilled water daily and milk when available and also many flavours of yoghurts.

We are very keen that the children try new fruits and vegetables so we have two very inviting salad and fruit carts.

Every meal served at Braiswick Primary School is fully nutritionally analysed and meets the Government Food and Nutritional Based Standards.

Registering for Free School Meals

Registering for free school meals could raise money for your child’s school

Registering for free meals could raise an extra £1,300 for your child’s school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school activities.

This additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the welfare benefits listed:

• Income Support / Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the
• Immigration and Asylum Act 1999T
• The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
• Working Tax Credit run-on / Universal Credit.

It is therefore important to register for free school meals through the school office, even if your child is in reception, year 1 or year 2, so that your child’s school receives as much funding as possible.

Our catering staff cater for all events and always excel in their fine cake making skills.
